This the 'true' second edition, with that of 1830, also labled "Second Edition", being a reissue. Modern brown quarter calf binding with marbled paper boards. Red speckled edges. [iii] - xxiv, 288 pp. No adverts. 12mo. 5-5/8" x 3-5/8". Lacks a1, half-title leaf. Binding - Fine. Textblock - VG+. Vaux a habitual thief & scoundrel, who was transported to Australia on [at least] 3 occasions during his lifetime. According to the DNB, Field, a NSW judge & writer, edited & arranged for publication Vaux's Memoirs, which was first published in 2v, 1819. In terms of Australiana, this work has the distinction of being recognized as the first full-length autobiography written in the country.
