Engraved architectural title-page. 31 illustrations. Head- and tailpieces. Decorative woodblock initial capital letters. 4to: a^6 b^8 c^4 A - Z^8. 20 cm x 14.5 cm. Modest wear to binding. Old owner pencil notes to front eps. Old stain to lower right of each gathering's first 4 leaves. Withal, a VG copy. Per Garrison & Morton, "First Italian book on obstetrics. It is a work of importance for the study of the history of Caesarean section; in it Mercurio advocated the Caesarean operation in cases of contracted pelvis.".
