Single sheet of printed muslin cloth, 3 columns, 5 'lessons' [The Little Child [6 4-line verses; first line: "See me, I am a little child"], A Morning Prayer [4 4-line verses; first lines: "Awaked from sleep, O God to thee I lift my heart, and bow my knee"], The Child's Time [9 4-line verses; first line: "Sixty seconds make a minute"], The Infant School Boy [7 4-line verses; first lines: "Pray, how can I, a little lad, in speaking make a figure?"] & Anna and Her Chicken [3 4-line verses; first line: "Mamma, my little chicken see"] Engraved woodcut vignette at the head of each column [1st: boy and girl with books in hand reading to seated woman; 2nd: seated boy and girl, with girl reading to the boy; 3rd: 3 children with seated man handing the standing boy a book]. Vertical column separators of typographical ornaments. Typographical ornament border. 11-5/8" x 10-5/8". Age-toning. A couple unobtrusive small spots. Period pos ["Albert Poules?"] to upper left corner. Faint fold lines. Withal, a VG copy of this rare survivor. One of a few "Primary Lessons" textile broadsides issued by the Chemical Printing Company. Now a somewhat uncommon survivor, with OCLC recording only 7 holding institutions.
