Colophon to inside rear wrapper, printed in Japanese. Illustrated by Eisen Tomioka, including a fold-out color frontis, 6 double page drawings & 32 intratextual images. 8vo. 8-7/8" x 6". Overall VG (some wear & soiling to covers/initial tissue guard with fold-lines). This an early dramatised English edition [the first was mid-1880s] of a famous Japanese story, The Forty-Seven Ronin, which was first performed in these author's version in 1748. A penciled note in the top margin of the inside rear wrapper states '1907', though the only date of publication we can locate [on OCLC] for this publisher is 1894.
