Original violet-red muslin quarter cloth over buff paper-wrapped boards with printed paper title label to spine, noting "Tales and Sketches. Vol. I.". 208 pp. 12mo, bound in 6s. 7-1/2" x 4-1/2". Cocked. Spine a bit sun-tanned. Label quite worn & chipped. Usual light foxing. Modern bookplate to front paste-down. Withal, a Very Good copy. Printed in an edition of 2000cc in April 1837. Contains 9 other pieces (6 from Bentley's & 3 from Libary of Fiction). Cooper contributed "An Evening of Visits".
