Abt VG (wear at the extremities/1 cm long, though thin, chip at top of front joint/old hinge reinforcement/occasional turned in corner). According to Pearl, GRAMMAR ".. ranks as one of Cobbett's greatest works.. written in America in the form of letters to his third son, James Paul Cobbett, who, at fourteen, copied them from the manuscript in accordance with his father's ideas on education and became 'a grammarian at once.' … The first issue of 5,000 copies (published 7 December 1818) was sold out in a fortnight, a 'second edition' of another 5,000 followed on 4 January..".
