Description: Some fruit is displayed on a marble tabletop: plums, grapes, berries. The starring role is given to the peach on which sits a small white butterfly. An ant crawls over the soft skin of the fruit.The original small painting is pendant to a flower still life of the same size on display in the Mauritshuis (invv. 70-71). Van Huysum painted them both on a sheet of copper, whose hard and smooth surface made it very suitable for this kind of small and precise work.Unsigned drawing, possibly from a sketchbook.[NL] Op een marmeren tafelblad ligt wat fruit uitgestald: pruimen, druiven, bessen. De hoofdrol is weggelegd voor de perzik waarop een kleine witte vlinder zit. Een mier kruipt over de zachte huid van de vrucht.De originele kleine schilderij hoort bij een bloemstilleven van hetzelfde formaat in het Mauritshuis te zien (invv. 70-71). Van Huysum schilderde ze beide op een plaatje koper, dat door zijn harde en gladde oppervlak heel geschikt is voor dit soort kleine en precieze werkjes. Drawing on paper, pencil, wash in gray. Total: 202 x 254 mm. In good condition.
