Description: Portrait of Jacob de Bucquoy (1693-??). Bust length. The portrayed is wearing a hat and sits behind a table with  his left hand resting on an open book. With his right hand he points at a globe. In the foreground rests a compass. In the background books and the tools of his work, as he was a land map maker.Inscription at the top: 'Gebooren te Amsterdam den 26 Octob.r 1693.' at bottom, six lines in Dutch by P.r Langendyk: 'Wilt gy het Weezen zien eens... in prent geets naar 't leven.' Signed at bottom: 'C.V. Noorde fecit 1758.'[NL] Portret van kaartmaker, landmeter en reiziger Jacob de Bucquoy met zijn hand op het boek dat hij over zijn zeereizen schreef. Met de andere hand wijst hij naar een globe en op tafel ligt een passer.
