Description: Portrait of Johan van den Honert; half-length turned slightly to the right, facing the viewer; wearing a long curly wig; pointing with his right hand towards the right; in architectural oval frame with pilasters on both sides and coat of arms at top. Shadow in de left corner added on purpose by the artist Houbraken.State before any lettering.Son of Taco Hajo van den Honert who was a Dutch Reformed theologian, professor at the University of Leiden.[NL] Portret ten halven lijve naar links van Joan (Johan) van den Honert op 43-jarige leeftijd in een ovaal. Gemaakt door Jacob Houbraken. Bovenaan zijn familiewapen en links en rechts twee pilasters. Onder het portret een leeg cartouche. Engraving and etching on laid paper, cut close to margins, mounted on another sheet of paper, then on cardboard with information on the sitter; total: 355 x 262 mm; state I/3 [?] some rubbing and minor damages, otherwise in very good condition.
