Description: Bust portrait of Jan Trip Berkenrode (1664-1732) in an oval held by allegorical figures. Turned to the left, wearing a large curly wig.On the bottom right, under the arm of one of the allegorical figures, is the castle Berkenrode with some modifications in the Classical style (see Buitenplaats Berkenrode te Heemstede 2016/2017, pp. 20-22).Under the portrait is the coat of arms of the sitter.State before lettering.[NL] Jan Trip Berkenrode, burgemeester van Amsterdam. Jan Trip, sinds 1724 heer van Berkenrode, was lid van de Amsterdamse patriciërsfamilie Trip, bewindhebber van de Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie en burgemeester van Amsterdam. In 1728 werd hij curator van de Leidse Hogeschool.Gemaakt door Houbraken. Engraving on laid paper, with broad margins; total: 411 x 283 mm; state I/2 [?]; some damages and tears along the margins slightly affecting the plate. A worm hole on the chin of the sitter, otherwise a nice impression. Not in Ver Huell [?]. Muller 5412.
