Description: Bust portrait of Lievin van der Beken (Laevinius Torrentius) (1525-1595). In an oval frame, shoulders turned to the left, with fur collar. Under the frame a plinth with inscription. Between the frame and the plinth his coat of arms with motto: DEUM SEQUERE.Inscribed on the plinth: Rev. D.D. Loevinus Torrentius Episcopus Antverpiensis. IINot signed.Van der Beken was a humanist, a poet and second Bishop of Antwerp.[NL] Busteportret van de bisschop Laevinus Torrentius. Het portret is gevat in een ovale omlijsting met het wapenschild van de geportretteerde en een motto in het Latijn. In een kader een tweeregelig onderschrift in het Latijn. Engraving and etching on laid paper, with wide margins; total: 410 x 245 mm; some rubbing due to handling, some traces of folding on the bottom margin, light staining on outer margins, traces of previous mounting on verso, otherwise in good condition.
