As from the inscription below, in his remarkably long existence, Kuiper had twenty-two children from two marriages.Inscription: JAN KUIPER, gemeenelyk genaamd Jan Praktiseer, / ..., buiten Utrecht.Signed and dated: J.M. Quinkhard Pinxit 1745 / J. Houbraken sculpsit Amst.[NL] Portret ten halven lijve van Jan Kuiper, bijgenaamd Jan Practiseer, in een ovaal. Het portret rust op een plint waarop een vijfregelige tekst in het Nederlands. Tekst: Jan Kuiper, gemeenelyk genaamd Jan Praktiseer, geboren 10 Maart, 1638, oude styl, te Klein Ammers, by Schoonhoven. Hy heeft in zyn eerste huwelyk gewonnen achttien zonen, en in zyn tweede twee zonen en twee dochters: zynde hy Ao. 1745 noch in't leven, en disgenoot in het Hiobs gasthuis, buiten Utrecht.Fertility - vruchtbaarheid - children - kinderen - huwelijk - marriage Engraving on paper with wide margins; total: 359 x 251 mm; slightly yellowing paper, some dirt and rubbing; pin holes on the four corners of the outer margins; some foxing and tiny ink drops on the top and left margins, and on the verso, a repaired tear on the right outer margin, another small tear on the opposite margin.
