After a painting by Hendrik Martensz. Sorgh (1611-1670). He was a Dutch theologian and Remonstrant who played a significant role at the Synod of Dordrecht in 1618.On verso, towards the bottom, in pen and brown ink: 1654.Inscribed: SIMON EPOSCOPIUS AETATIS LX ANNO MDCXLIII. Engraving on paper, with very small margin; total: 307 x  217 mm; some traces of folding in the middle, creases towards the bottom, some damages along the margins, slightly affecting the plate; some light staining and foxing; traces of ink on the verso; otherwise in good condition.
