A guard with a turban is standing in front of the lit fire place. On the wall a coat of arms with the Dutch Lion. On the cabinet a globe and an old book. A dog sits in the front. At the bottom in the margin is the coat of arms of and dedication, in Dutch and French, to Gerrit Braamcamp, who had the original painting in his collection.Signed at bottom: C.
