Description: Complete set of six plates illustrating decorated fireplaces in the Louis XVI (Lodewijk 16e stijl) style. Various views of each piece on the plates: a side view (Profil), a front view, a view from above. With the scale reference.From: 'Oeuvres diverse de Lalonde décorateur et dessinateur etc.', a series of 26 sets of 6 plates each, designs for interior decoration.Richard Lalonde was one of the most successful interior designers of the Louis XVI style. Lalonde was a French ornamental designer who worked also in the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne and the Menus Plaisirs in 1760. Under the Ancien Régime, Lalonde also designed furniture with prominent cabinet makers such as Guillaume Benneman and Joseph Stöckel and published influential sets of designs. The prints are detailed and show the design for the interior chimneys (openhaarden). Etchings on paper with wide margins; total: 275 x 415 mm; some staining and rubbing; the set is bound on the left margin with a tiny rope, the first plate is loose. Overall in good condition. Cat. Berlin 1269.
