Description: Wish letter with inscribed cartouche within a decorative frame with a representation of Mercury and Argus. Letter dedicated to the brother and the sister of J: H, as signed at bottom.Dated at bottom: 'Ammerslot den 29 Maart 1739.' The textual initial of each verse is written in capital letter, horizontally, and consituting a verse itself. Naamgedicht - acrostichon - name poem.The composition at the bottom is after a famous composition by Goltzius.Het schilderij stelt een scène voor uit het verhaal van Io uit de Metamorfosen van Ovidius. Mercurius heeft van Jupiter de opdracht gekregen Io te bevrijden en hij moet daarvoor Argus te doden, die door Juno als bewaker van Io is aangesteld. Argus is afgebeeld met zijn honderd ogen.
