Description: Map of Monnikendam. On the top left the coat of arms of the city; on the top right the title: 'MONNEKEDAM' and the legenda with the explanation of the relevant buildings in the print. Below is the scale: 'Pedes Geometrici' .This plate, smaller than usual, was used in Johannes Willemszoon Blaeu’ s ‘Toonneel der steden van de Vereenighde Nederlanden’ published in 1649. This impression appeared along with other three plates showing Edam, Medemblik, and Purmerend. Engraving on paper with some margin; plate mark: 151 x 128 mm, total: 190 x 267 mm; in great condition. On verso text in letterpress.
