Description: The art collector and engraver Hendrik Busserus (1701-1781) holding a print by Pieter Louw, after Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1652), known with the title  'Christ in the temple'. See a copy of the mezzoting at the Rijksmuseum, inv. RP-P-1908-361. On the background a pile of albums of prints and drawings.Lettered with four lines of Dutch verse by an anonymous authir: 'Wie een konstminnaar mindt, wie Vriendschap eert en deugd, / De huyg' lary veracht, voor de nyvre Jeugd, / Een voorbeeld zoekt om langs het spoor der Deuigd te Streeven, / Beschouw BUSSERUS Beeld, door LOUW gemaald naar 't leeven. / N.A.'; signed at bottom left: 'P.r Louw fecit.'. Mezzotint on paper, trimmed within plate mark and pasted on another sheet of paper; total: 303 x 228 mm; state II/2, some smudges at bottom, traces of glue otherwise in good condition.
