Description: Title print of a set of twelve plates with sea- and landscapes. A sailor is walking towards the right, holding a large flag on which the title and indications on the publisher are reported: 'Recueil de plusieurs Nauires, et Paisages fait apres le naturel par R. Zeeman 1650. / Et se vendent a Paris chez I. van Merlen rue S. Iacques a la Ville d'Anvers.'According to the Hollstein, due to the variety of subjects present in this set, it is likely that the publisher himself, Jacques van Merle (1616-1662), collected the plates and decided to publish them together. Etching on paper trimmed within plate mark; total: 75 x 128 mm; only state; traces of previous mounting on the two top corners on the verso, somewhat yellowed paper, light smudges and very light staining; Hollstein 73, Bartsch 6.
