Description: Relief of a tile (Tegelrelief)with soldiers arresting a woman, as found under the ruins of Borch te Bretten near Katwijk. On the right background the beach and the sea.Titled below: 'Roode gebakke tegel, ter langte van 5 1/2 en ter hoogte van Vier Duymen onder de Bouwvalligheden van het Huys te Britte gevonden.' Signed at bottom: 'F. v. Bleyswyck delin & Fecit.' Marked on the top right corner: '1: Deel. Fol: 155.'Employed as illustration in Gerard van Loon's: 'Aloude Hollandsche histori der keyzeren, koningen, hertogen en graaven...,' published in The Hague by Pieter de Hondt in 1734 [vol. I, fol. 155]. Etching on paper with margins; plate mark: 296 x 172 mm, total: 366 x 237 mm; some folding creases on the top left corner, some light staining, smudges, a water stain on the top margin, toning paper, yet in good condition.
