Above the door of the house a sign with the inscription 'Akademia VIVAT P - S'. With the name change from the Delft Academy to the Delft Polytechnic School.Titled below: 'Delft, Middernacht van 30 juni op 1 juli, 64' signed: 'Cvd Grient f. 'Unknown collector's mark on verso.[NL] De begrafenis van de Delftsche academie, 30 juni 1864. Nachtelijk tafereel waarbij in de verlichte deuropening van een pand een persoon staat te oreren voor publiek. Etching and dry needle on paper; plate mark: 130 x 148 mm, total: 173 x 192 mm; state IV/4 (Rijksmuseum); some light smudges on the margins otherwise in great condition.
