Description: The inauguraiton of the Treveszaal in The Hague [de Tręveszaal in Den Haag], in the Binnenhof. This astonishingly beautiful room was originally erected for the negotiations during the Eighty Years' War. Notably, on the right, is a group of Ottoman-clad people. In 1697, in fact, a delegation from Russia was invited in The Hague. In the delegation was also the tzar Pieter I.Nowadays it hosts the meetings of the Dutch Cabinet.Titled below: 'DE GROOTE GEHOOR-ZAAL IN DEN HAAG, IN DEN WELKEN DE- HEEREN STAATEN GENERAAL DER VEREENIGDE NEDERLANDEN DE GESANDTEN ONTFANGEN, EN- HUNNE VERGAADERINGEN HOUDEN.'Signed on the bottom left: 'D Marot del et fecit.'Used in Jean le Clerc : 'Geschiedenissen der Vereenigde Nederlanden…'. published in Amsterdam by Zacharias Chatelain in 1730.[NL] De Tręveszaal is een historische vergaderzaal uit 1697 op het Binnenhof in Den Haag en maakt deel uit van de gebouwen van het Ministerie van Algemene Zaken. Sinds 1977 is het de vaste vergaderzaal van de Nederlandse ministerraad. Etching and engraving on paper; platemark: 380 x 680 mm; total: 508 x 740 mm; state III/3; three vertical and one horizontal folding crease, a damp stain on top center margin; a tear on the left margin, repaired with tape on verso; small holes in the crossing of the folding creases. Overall in good condition. Muller 2989-H.
