Description: Leonilla, Harmonillus' sister, hears that her mother and brother have turned into lemon trees and immediately returns from hunting. She sees her mother's tree and, because she has golden hair, turns herself into an orange tree. This print is an illustration for the introduction to G.B. Ferraris book on citrus fruits. Through mythological stories invented by himself, the author tries to explain the origins of the different lemon varieties.Signed on the bottom of the plinth of the statue at center: Domini[cus] Zamper del / Corn Bloemaert sculp.Used as plate in Giovan Battista Ferrari's: Hesperides Sive de Malorum Aureorum Cultura et Usu Libri Quatuor, published in Rome in 1646.The print is mounted on another sheet of laid paper with a wrong title written beneath in pen and brown ink: Apollon en Daphné.[NL] Leonilla, de zus van Harmonillus, hoort dat haar moeder en broer in citroenbomen zijn verandert en keert onmiddellijk terug van de jacht.
