Author: Title: Songbook, [ca. 1875], Poetry | Het Haagsche Bosch vol vrolijke zangers. Amsterdam, G. van der Linden, [ca. 1875], 63+(1) pp.
Description: Dutch songbook. Several 19th-century editions of Haagsche Bosch songbooks are known, published in Rotterdam and Amsterdam between 1826 and about 1870. Several songs deal with the war with the Belgians in 1830, and it further contains the well-known Zilvervlootlied by Jan Pieter Heije.Since these songbooks were reprinted several times and the editions of popular printers are very rarely dated, it is difficult to determine exactly in which year this songbook by Van der Linden appeared. However, since this songbook also contains songs on the death of King William II, it cannot be older than 1849 or 1850.An earlier edition of Het Haagsche Bosch vol vrolijke zangers was printed by Van der Lindens predecessor Holst. His editions have successively different addresses: the oldest one read Rozenstraat near the Prinsengracht, then it briefly became Bloemstraat, and finally Egelantiersgracht. Holst lived in the Rozenstraat shortly before 1855. Since the older copy of Het Haagsche Bosch has Holst's youngest address, it must have been printed after 1855, probably not until about 1860. This edition by Van der Linden will therefore date from after 1860.Poetry - The Hague - Haagse Bos - songbook - liedboek - zangboek - volksmuziek - folk music - Dutch song culture Bound in blue paper, 17.4 x 10.5 cm.
