Description: An anthology of Pieter Boddaerts poetic and prosaic work. Illustrated with engraved title page with vignette by W. Schults after J. Steijn. With table of contents. Contains, i.a., a poem on the occasion of the Saint Nicholas feast and texts about Freemasonry. With inscription by A. LebbingBoddaert is considered the most important eighteenth-century writer of erotic poetry and was also nicknamed “the dirty Boddaert” or “the dirty Pieter” to avoid confusion with his grandfather, an edifying poet bearing the same name. Boddaert suffered a tragic death on March 8th 1805, as a result of falling off the wall of an Amsterdam canal and onto the ice.
