Description: Book on the life of Corneli(u)s Rudolphus Theodorus baron Krayenhoff (1758-1840), a Dutch physicist, doctor, general, engineer, cartographer and minister for war.Besides his many military successes, Krayenhoff was also an authority in the field of electricity and lightning protection. In 1782, the spire of the Martinikerk in Doesburg was the first in the Netherlands to receive a lightning conductor. In 1791 Krayenhoff became a member of the Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen.Contains a lithograph portrait and a fold-out  reproduction of an order by Krayenhoff.Kraijenhoff - Nijmegen - Napoleon - French wars - Daendels - militaria - fortification - Dutch History - Felix Meritis - Maatschappij tot Nut van 't Algemeen - Concordia et Libertate Bound in half linen and decorative paper, 22.4 x 13.6 cm.
