Description: Martinus Nijhoff's (1894-1953) second collection of poems titled Vormen was first published in November of 1924, which earned him the Amsterdamsche Prijs voor Poëzie in 1925. Nijhoff composed the 39 poems over the course of almost 10 years and continuously edited his verses in the process.The first edition of Vormen (of ca. 750-800 copies) quickly sold out; a second edition was already printed in the autumn of 1925. A third edition (of probably 750 copies) appeared in 1931. Nijhoff used the latter occasion to make a few major changes to his work.Vormen is divided into six parts: Houtsneden, Kleine liederen, Steenen tegen den spiegel, Tuinfeesten, Dagboekbladen and Kerstnacht.With colored illustrations.
