Description: The City Council Chamber at the City Hall in Amsterdam (stadhuis Amsterdam op de dam). The interior of the Chamber during a meeting of the town council. The City of Amsterdam is run by the city council and a college of aldermen. The council is the highest authority in the city and is responsible for all important decisions. Amongst other responsibilities, the council sets the city's annual budget.The painting in the center is Govaert Flinck's Solomon's prayer for wisdom commissioned for the chamber in 1658 and donated by the painter just before passing away.
