Description: An owl sitting on the branch of a tree, while numerous other birds seem to chirp in its direction from other branches or while flying towards it. Signed on lower left corner: F.B. in: W.H.f.On verso collectors'mark: Paul Davidsohn (1839-1924) (L. 654); a note in pencil on verso referring to the purchase of the etching by Davidsohn in 1863 (Amsterdam?).[NL] Een uil zit op de tak van een boom, terwijl talloze andere vogels vanaf andere takken in zijn richting tjilpen of naar hem toe vliegen. Etching on laid paper, trimmed to plate mark; total: 128 x 183 mm; state I/2; on verso some dirt and handwritten annotations. Traces of previous mounting on verso and some reinforcement on the left margin. Very nice impression. Pennington 2134.
