Description: Portrait of Bonaventura Van Overbeek, aged 45, half-length standing behind a table, his left hand resting on a book on the table, some Roman ruins seen through a window; in an oval frame with a draped curtain; a plate from the set he designed and published in 1709 with descriptions in three volumes, titled: Les restes de l'ancienne Rome, and some pencils in lower left; coat of arms below portrait; inserted as decoration in the 1709 aforementioned collection of depictions of Rome and its surroundings. Published in Amsterdam by Jean Crellius. Engraving on paper, trimmed within plate mark: 396 x 257 mm; state III/3; some white stains (mold) on the plate, yet very nice impression. Hollstein 140.
