Description: Decoration in front of the house of Bernard Mauritz, a council member of Vlissingen and steward of the stadholder. The decoration, consisting of wreaths and rococo architectural details, was designed and painted by Jan Huis, a painter in Middelburg. The portrait of Mauritz in profile, within a wreath at the center of the composition. Part of the illustrations of the inauguration of William IV as heir to Vlissingen on the 5th of June 1751. Illustration to Daniel Théodore Huët: Inhuldiging van zijne doorluchtige hoogheid Willem Karel Hendrik Friso (...) als erf-heer van Vlissingen, op den Vden junij MDCCLI, published in Amsterdam by Isaak Tirion in 1753. Etching and engraving on laid paper, trimmed close to margins, total: 382 x 460 mm. Despite the folding crease in the middle, in very good condition. Atlas van Stolk 4017-9.
