Description: Woman wearing a chiton baring her right breast, standing with the weight of the body on her left leg, left hand raised and holding the corner of a drapery wrapped around her and covering her right leg, right hand resting on a vase; after an antique statue from the Borghese collection, identified as Venus. Signed and numbered on the ground: FP B 66, FP monogrammed and the B stands for Bergognone. From 'Segmenta Nobiliarum Signorum et Statuarum', a series of 101 etched plates (frontispiece and 100 illustrations) representing statues from Rome, first published in Rome in 1638, and reprinted five times before the end of the seventeenth century. On verso, on the bottom right corner collector's mark: P in black (stencilled?). Date of publishing 1638. Etching on laid paper; plate mark: 231 x 134 mm, total: 293 x 180 mm; despite the traces of a damp stain affecting the bottom margin and the traces of folding on the top left corner, in good condition.
