Description: Plate from the set of 105 etchings designed by Jacob Ernst Marcus and published monthly between November 1807 and July 1816. The plates consist in portraits and/or genre scenes. The prints that are signed and dated are later states. In 1834 the whole series was reprinted.Study print with a seated woman with a basket, opposite a woman asleep against a wall and in the middle the portrait of Daniël Vrijdag (1765-1822), after a design by Hendrik Willem Caspari (1770-1829). Signed in stipple engraving on the bottom right: J.E. Marcus f. December 1812 and under Vrijdag's portrait: H.W. Caspari ad viv. del.. Number 62 from the set. On verso, collector's mark: Collectie/Gustav Leo Jaller [not in Lugt]. Etching on paper with margins.
