Description: Plate from the set of 105 etchings designed by Jacob Ernst Marcus and published monthly between November 1807 and July 1816. The plates consist in portraits and/or genre scenes. The prints that are signed and dated are later states. In 1834 the whole series was reprinted. Study of multiple characters, a seated man, whole figure with shadings, sitting on the side of a street; two whole figures of a younger man and a man holding a rifle on the right, only outlined. In the middle an outlined head of a woman in three quarters. Signed in stipple engraving on the bottom right: J.E. Marcus f. February 1809. Number 16 from the set. Etching on paper with margins. Plate mark: 98 x 159 mm, total: 142 x 237 mm; external margins browning, a small tear on the bottom left corner, otherwise in good condition. Not in Jacob Ernst Marcus Graveur en Tekenaar, 1972.
