Description: 13th plate of 100 portraying Rome's palaces and ruins and even reconstruction of ancient buildings in Rome.The second states of these etchings were collected in the publication by Peter Schenck: 'Roma aeterna, sive ipsius aedificiorum Romanorum, integrorium collapsorumque, conspectus duplex.'In the 'Aedificiorum Index': '13.ARCUS minor SEVERI', view on the Arch of Severus with later medieval additions.Inscribed on the bottom in Latin and Dutch: 'ARCUS imp. SEPT. SEVERI.... / Pet Schenck exc: Amstelod: cum Privil:'Boog van Septimius Severus - Rome - Pieter Schenk Etching on paper with margins; platemark: 165 x 194 mm; total: 187 x 254 mm; state I/2; Brown stain in the middle and on the right under the arch. Some tears, slightly affecting the plate repaired on the verso. Otherwise in good condition. Hollstein 1497-1596.
