Description: Portrait of Catharina Mulder, a fierce orangist who became rather famous for her political battles in favour of the Dutch monarchy. She was a fish vendour from Rotterdam and here she is represented in a coffee house. The text below reads: 'Zie hier het Evenbeeld van Kaat het Mosselwyf, / KEET ZWENKE, 't booze hoofd der Plunderende Oproergieren / Van 't muitend Rotterdam: een Beest dat, buiten kyf, / Reeds dikwils heeft verdient de hoogste Galg te sieren; / Een Ondier dat voor 't Huis, by ieder thans gehaat, / (Ten minsten in het hart der Waare Patriotten) / Haar best doet dat het ras, ten wisbederf van staat / Sich alleenheerschend zag, om 's Burgers heil te knotten. / Erken, myn Landgenoot, haar tot uw, val gereed, / In 't afgebeeld Pourtret van Rottes Ruige Keet. 'Details in the print are hand colored in orange, namely the bows that decorate Catharina's attire, on her head, elbows and shoes. Etching, engraving and letterpress on paper; plate mark: 125 x 102 mm, total: 252 x 179 mm; in very good condition despite some traces of damp. Date of publishing: 1784.
