Title: Study of four character faces (Studie van vier hoofden).
Description: On one plate, four studies of four female character heads, two on the top are oriented upside down. The plate is numbered with N. 3 on the top, in the middle, whereas other inscriptions have been removed, from the plate. Only traces are visible. According to the quality of the drawn heads, however, it might be possible to ascribe at least three of them to Joan and one to Susanna Maria van Woensel. The bottom right head shows traces of the signature of the latter, and, together with the head on the left, it is the better represented. Under each head is at least one letter: P., J., H., and S. ... W... On verso, in pencil Joannes. Etching on paper with margins, plate mark: 108 x 134 mm, total: 181 x 241 mm; in outstanding condition.
