Description: An optical print with a view on the Bierkade in The Hague. This canal runs through the centre of the city. On both sides of the canal, expensive houses line the street. A coach is approaching the ‘Wagenbrug’ from the left. In the distance the outlines of ‘Het Zweedse Huis’ are visible. This building was demolished in 1867.Inscribed at the bottom: 'Prospectus Grandis Bierkade, Hagae Comitis; / Vuë de Perspective du Grande Bierkade, a la Haye; / Gezicht van de Grote Bierkade, tot Gravenhaghe; / Gesicht der Grossen Bierkade, zu Grafenhaag.'Signed below on the right: 'Georg Balthasar Probst excud. A.V.' Etching and engraving on paper, trimmed within plate mark; total: 305 x 405 mm. Folding crease in the middle, smudges and other creases along the borders and on the corners especially. Damp stain at bottom.
