Description: A pissing horse bound to a post at the centre, seen in profile facing right, a man sitting behind the horse at right, hills in the background; with added number and etching in the sky; from a series of twelve prints showing horses, dating 1651 Numbered on the bottom right: '5' and signed on a rock at the bottom: 'D. Stroop f.'.The plate has been reworked throughout the various states. Possibly for the last impressions the artist used a bush with acid to enhance the chiaroscuro on the figures on the right, especially on the resting seated man.[NL] Een pissend paard, vastgebonden aan een paal. Rechts de rustende ruiter. Etching on laid paper with some aquatint. Trimmed to plate mark; total: 145 x 190 mm; state III/3; top corners reinforced; Large watermark with coat of arms in double oval frame. Hollstein 5.
