Description: Catchpenny print of the slaughtering season in Amsterdam, with cattle being sold at the market. The top woodcut shows oxen being sold, while in an inn some men are drinking together to improve the atmosphere and thereby hopefully the sales. The woodcut below it shows in three separate images how the oxen are slaughtered, and how their meat is prepared. The bottom two woodcuts depict the same routine for pigs.The Erven de Weduwe Egmont had several new, but also various sixteenth-century woodcuts in their stock, of which this is probably one. Amsterdam, De Erve de Weduwe J.
