Description: Portrait of Carel Passé (1741-1790) playing Phillip of Burgundy, whole-length stepping forward with left hand on hip, right arm outstretched in gesture, looking towards the viewer, wearing suit, sword, order of the Golden Fleece, rosettes on his shoes, ruff, plumed velvet cap and velvet cloak trimmed with ermine; after Hendriks. Signed at the bottom: 'W. Hendriks pinxit / C.S. Roos Excudit / Gravé in Amsterdam oar R. Brookshaw 1770', before title lettering. With date, Rare.[NL] Passé als Filips de Goede in het treurspel Jacoba van Beieren. Mezzotint on paper with margins; plate mark: 463 x 344 mm, total: 539 x 405 mm; state I/2; soil and damp stain especially on the bottom external margin; damp stain also on bottom right corner, affecting slightly the plate, binding holes on the top margin, otherwise in great condition.
