Description: Above on the right a curtain with inscription: 'VIRTUS contra VITIA Per varias demonstrata selectissimas conciones, in singulos.... Controversitis per quam utiles ac necessiarias.' A woman, most likely the personification of Virtue is holding back with a shield the vices, with the help of two small putti holding flaming swords.On the bottom is the address of the publisher and the date: 'COLONIAE AGRIPPINAE APUD IOANNEM WILHELMUM FRIESSEM IUNIOREM A. MDCLXXVII' (Cologne, 1677) It is not known for which publication this frontispiece was intended. Engraving on paper, trimmed within plate mark; total: 284 x 180 mm; small defect on the plate due to printing process, some discolouration on the bottom left, small tear on the margin above, two tiny holes, otherwise in very good condition.
