Description: Signed and dated on the bottom left: 'J.C. Philips inv. et fecit 1749' and further address of the publisher and year of publication: 'te Amsterdam by THEODORUS CRAJENSCHOT, Boekverkoper, 1750.'Allegorical frontispiece to an unknown publication: the personification of poetry, dressed in a gown with stars and holding a lyre is pointing to a panel where are six representations related to the history of the Netherlands; in front of this panels is sitting History, winged, with an opened book on her lap. Two putti on the left hold a framed representation of fireworks. On the right background, through a window, a battlefield where are visible cannon balls being shot at a city. Engraving on paper with some etching, trimmed to plate mark; total: 184 x 124; on the verso hand written note in brush brown ink, some dirt, folding traces, uneven cut margins, some very small tears along the external margins.
