Description: 1st edition. 4o, 16,5 x 10 cm. Full leather, spine restored, hinges weak. Complete copy. Interior with some stains, smudges and sometimes a feable page.  Illustrated with 52 full page inserted plates and 22 woodcuts in the text. Inscription reads Robert Bartlett his book and ex-libris Daniel de Bruin with the portrait of J.B. Rietstap. Richard Blome (d. 1705) published many books, some of them on heraldry. The fourth and fifth editions of Guillim's 'Display of Heraldrie', an Alphabetical Account of the Nobility and Gentry, which are (or lately were) related unto the several counties of England and Wales. Blome is described by Anth. Wood, in the Athenae, vol. i. c. 389: 'This person Bloome is esteemed by the chiefest heralds a most impudent person, and the late industrious Garter (Sir W. D[ugdale]) hath told me that he gets a livelihood by bold practices.' H185. An overview of the different state of iconography used in coat of arms: All kind of monstruous creatures, all the kind of fish, the lions rampant, etc. Further  the achievement of the nobel men and also numerous pages with coat of arms.
