This wonderful book contains the stories of Tom Duim whom is better known as 'Tom Thumb' or in Dutch as 'Klein Duimpje'. The known folktales about this small character served as the basis for this re-telling by van Hichtum. Nynke van Hichtum (1860-1939), pseudonym for Sjoukje Maria Diderika Troelstra-Bokma de Boer, was a Frisian Dutch children's author. her oeuvre is comprehensive and contains classics like Vertellingen uit Duizend en één nacht, De lotgevallen van Robinson Crusoë and De sprookjes van de gebr. Grimm. Het books were provided with pictures by the most popular illustrators of the time like Rie Cramer. Tom Duim is illustrated by Jan Wiegman. His illustrations show a clear and nostalgic scene and besides imagining the text they provide enhanced decorative value. B2389
