Title: [Aquatint, etching, later copy 19th/20th century] Landscape with a ruin, after 1768, probably 20th or 19th century, 1 p.
Description: View of a large ruin, partly covered by overgrowth, with two figures herding goats in the foreground and a tower in the background. The name 'J. Lievens' on the far left. Deceptive (possibly contemporary or 19th-century, but not before 1768) copy of a printdrawing by Jurriaan Cootwijck.Where etching uses a needle to scratch through an acid-proof resist and make lines, aquatint uses powdered rosin (resin) to create a tonal effect. Aquatint in black on thin laid paper, 202 x 268 mm, no margins. Copy of printdrawing. Printed vignette on verso. All edges except lower and lower right pasted onto thick paper, very small tear in right edge, otherwise in excellent condition.
