Description: Plate with the allegorical representation of the fire of the Amsterdam theater on 11th May 1772, recalled in the two lines on the bottom. Some putti are constructing a new beehive to substitute the destroyed one. The muses Melpomene and Thalia witness the scene. Titled on the top:´OP DEN BRAND / VAN DEN / SCHOUWBURG te AMSTERDAM; / Den Elfden May.´ on the bottom the lines by Delfing:´MIJn bIJen zWerVen: zIe, De korf Is grVIs en asCh! / eI, zorgers! zorgt op nIeVW; zIJ WeIgren VgeenWasCh. / Delfing.´ Signed on the bottom left of the representation:´N.v.d.
