Description: Landscape, high trees on the left, a village on the left background, trees and some figures in the middle, a pond in the center foreground. A man on a horse seen from behind riding towards the right background. From the 'Recueil de 283 estampes gravées à l'eau forte d'après les dessins originaux... que Mons. Evrard Jabach de Cologne... possédait' or Cabinet Jabach. Everhard Jabach (1618-1695) was an eminent French collector of drawings. This ensemble of plates is drawn after Italian masters as the Carraccis, Pietro da Cortona, Titian, Campagnola turned into print by Macé, Corneille Jean-Baptiste and Michel-Ange and Pesne. Signed on the bottom; at left 'Lud. Carache delin:', numbered '16.E', signed on the right bottom:'Massé. Sculp. Cum privuil Regis.' Etching on fine laid paper with margins; platemark: 284 x 406 mm, total: 297 x 422 mm; in good conditions. Attached to a steel engraving by Jean-Baptiste-Marie Bury (1808-ca.1881) after Jean Arnould Leveil (1806-1866) with Roman ruines.
