From the background a long line of curious people is coming to see the giant.Four lines of Latin text below: 'Ceruleus profert immania corpora pentus... Quod tibi spectandum scita dat Goltzius arte. / C. Schneus'; signed within picture:'HGolzius exc.'(HG monogrammed).[NL] De dode walvis rust op de kust terwijl twee mannen deze opmeten. Het dier heeft zijn mond geopend en toont zijn tong.
