Top and bottom boards decorated with simple double-ruled border in gilt; spine with raised bands, six compartments; compartments decorated in gilt, title compartment in brown leather, lettered in gilt. All edges with simple gilt decoration, rubbed from shelfwear. Simple blind decoration to inner-dentelles. Leather lightly rubbed at extremities; shelfwear. Marbled EPs; all edges likewise marbled. This copy presented to a pupil in 1874 as an award; inscription on first blanco. Engraved frontispiece, with protective tissue guard. Illustrated with engraved plates by John E. Millais. Pronounced foxing, early and late; restricted almost entirely to blancos, half-title, and the such; textblock with only occasional small spot of marginal foxing. Pseudonym of Henrietta Keddie.
